Membership
is open to all UMF students. All that is required is that students have met
the following academic requirements:
- Completed
at least 12 credit hours in History courses (4 courses).
- Possess
at least a 3.1 GPA or better in History courses.
- Possess
an overall GPA of 3.0 or better.
Once accepted, students are required to pay a one-time
initiation fee of $40. The proceeds go to Phi Alpha Theta's National office
to fund various awards, scholarships, and the annual convention.
For the initiation fee, students receive a lifetime
membership in Phi Alpha Theta. In addition, they receive a certificate with
their name printed on it, suitable for framing, and a one year subscription
to Phi Alpha Theta's quarterly journal, The
Historian.
