Minutes 11/1/00 Meeting called to order 3:40 pm I. Reports a. President - Received PO slips and receipts that have not yet been turned in to the business office from Chris (treasurer) b. Vice President - Mesda will not be here today - see Expo c. Treasurer - absent d. Secretary - need to talk to treasurer about what he plans to do ( resign?) e. Computer Gaming Officer - excused absence II. Expo - Money has been deposited - Compliments - Leon Harkleroad emailed to say he was glad to be part of the Expo Student loved the digital photo room - Complaints - - Frank Roberts is upset that projectors were used for computer gaming -Computer Center was not aware they were making a connection for computer gaming. They do not support that. - There was left over soda, will be bringing it to meetings - Jeremy and Seth will buy 3 12 pks. of soda - Have not heard from ZoomCam. Jeremy is trying to contact to find out why they did not show up. - Jeremy will talk to someone about what to do with MaineWest. They bluntly backed out of the contract. Are thinking of taking action against them. - Next year_s Expo Committee - o Get Freshman o Will not start planning until December o Need to contact major companies as soon as possible (Linux, Microsoft, etc.) III. Other Business - Ithaca College holds a Computer Expo every year. Karen Todd from Apple suggested we contact the Ithaca Computer Expo committee and go over their organization plan. They began much like we did and now they hold a semi-professional Expo every year! There is hope! - Our budget allocates $300 for trips. This may be used for this kind of trip. - Mesda has mentioned a Linux Conference we may be interested in. Maybe he will sponsor members to go. More details next time. - Proposal from Jeremy to split the budget. o Will bring paperwork to the next meeting. o We have $500 allocated to Robotics $400 to Computer Gaming Club $100 to community classes (used for supplies, etc.) Did not make a decision yet - Need to bring up to Senate that we need space for the club BADLY! - Scott will organize our software (sort out what is ours / what is not in Ricker) - Need to get receipts for books to know which ones are ours. - Community Classes o Topics Basic PC Basic HTML Jeremy will be making an outline for both o We may pull in more membership through community involvement. o Will be an outlet for advertising - Seth motions to upgrade the CD burner. It is now functional at the moment. o Motion seconded by Jeremy o Unanimous yea vote - Jami suggests reaching out to freshman. They are the students most likely to get involved. Maybe go to each COS140 class and give a short presentation on whom the computer club is and why they might like to be involved. Give out software that was given to us by Apple. - An updated version of the Constitution will be printed out be next week! - Next week_s meeting will be held at 7:00 pm. Place will be announced through email. Meeting adjourned 4:40pm.
