This club was named after Sigmund Freud’s famous discussion group. Our mission is to do for Psychology at UMF what Freud’s group did for Psychoanalysis in Vienna: create an enriching community of fellowship, discussion, and scholarship that is based on mutual interest in psychology. Our philosophy is that our engagement in psychology can only happen when we, as students, have fun activities, resources and opportunities for academic enrichment and self growth, and a sense of community. That is why we are a student-centered, student-friendly, and student-run organization that is open to anyone who has an interest in psychology. You do not need to be a psychology major to join.

What does the Psychological Wednesday Society do? While this changes from year to year, some of the club's many activities over the years have included:

*hosting informal discussions on different aspects of psychology

*attending research and counseling conferences

*inviting guest speakers to our meetings

*hosting workshops that provide students with graduate school information

*paying for all of the above with revenue from fund raising activities

We also have a “home” that we can call our own: the Lounge in the Psychology Building. This is where we “hang out” and hold our meetings. We invite you to come by and visit us.

Next P.W.S. meeting will be in the fall, have a good summer!
