Psychological Wednesday Society Constitution

Article 1
The name of the club is the Psychological Wednesday Society.

Article II
The purpose of the club is to facilitate interest in psychology as an academic discipline and profession among UMF undergraduates. The club does this by having psychology oriented dinners with guest speakers, conducting research projects, and going to psychology conferences.

Article III
Membership in the Psychological Wednesday Society is open to any UMF student who is interested in psychology and who pays the student activity fee. A student does not need to be a psychology major or minor.

Article IV
Officers

President- The President shall oversee all fundraisers and activities of the club. He/She will be in charge of scheduling meetings and sending out emails to make these meetings known to club members and the psychology department. He/She is in charge of communicating with the advisor and making deadlines regarding conferences.

Vice President- The Vice President shall assist the President with all tasks. The Vice President shall assist with the planning of meetings, and running them. He/She shall be in charge of performing any duties delegated by the President and taking over the President’s duties if he/she is unable or unwilling to perform them.

Secretary- The Secretary shall take notes at all meetings and keep track of attendance. He/She will also take care of correspondence matters as well as submit monthly minutes to the UMF Student Senate. He/She is also in charge of maintaining the bulletin board in the Student Center. The Secretary is also in charge of turning in Risk and Release forms to public safety for travel and waiver forms.

Treasurer- The Treasurer shall be the fiscal officer of the Psychological Wednesday Society and responsible for collecting and depositing money. He/She is also in charge of submitting monthly accountabilities to the Student Senate as well as a budget request for the next academic year.

Elections:
Officers shall be elected to serve a term of one year. Elections will be held in the spring for the following year and determined by ballot voting.

Article V
Primary funding will be from the Student Activity Fee allocated by the UMF Student Senate. Any money collected from contributions or fund raising will be deposited into a fundraising account of the Psychological Wednesday Society. This account shall be maintained in the Administrative Systems Office. Members who participate in fundraising have priority to money in the fundraising account. Those who wish only to participate in conference trips but have not attended club meetings or fundraisers will not be provided money to go on conferences. He/She will be required to pay his/her own way to attend the conference.

Article VI
Regular meetings shall be held at least twice a month at a time and day agreed upon by the members in consolation with the Faculty Advisor. Special meetings may be called by any officer with at least 24 hour notice. The President is in charge of contacting members for all meetings.

Article VII
Amendment & Changes- All amendments and/or changes will be voted on by the club members (Robert’s Rules of Procedure). The amendments and/or changes must be e-mailed to the Constitution Committee and then passed through the Student Senate at a General Assembly meeting. A representative of the club proposing the amendment and/or changes must be present and must e-mail the newly revised constitution to umfstudentsenate@yahoo.com at least 48 hours before the General Assembly Meeting.

Article VIII
Impeachment & Removal- Impeachment of any officer of the club/organization shall be conducted as follows- The club/organization shall have the power to impeach any officer. Impeachment shall take the form of a resolution stating the reasons for the impeachment. A neutral, non-voting Student Senate representative or the club advisor must be present at the meeting during which the officer is to be impeached. It must be passed by two thirds (2/3) written ballet vote of the full membership at a regular meeting. Student Senate and the club must have one week’s advanced notice of the impeachment. Following impeachment, a vote of removal will take place and requires a two-thirds (2/3) written ballet vote to pass.
