Dear Students, Psi Chi is the National Honorary Society in Psychology, and affiliate of the American Psychological Association and College Honor Societies. Psi Chi recognizes your scholastic ahievement and interest in psychology as well as your educational training in psychology. The purposes of Psi Chi are to encourage, stimulate, and maintain scholarhsips of individuals and to advance the science of psychology. Membership in Psi Chi is open to you only while you are a student; after you graduate it is too late to join Psi Chi. The only charge by the national organization is a once-in-a-lifetime registration fee of $35. (Your check must be submitted to the UMF Psychology Department, after you have been notified of acceptance). The requirements for application to membership in Psi Chi are the following: 1.Registration for a major or minor in psychology (or their equivalents). 2.Completion of at least 8 semester hours of psychology (or 6 semester hours completed and registration for 2 additional semester hours). 3.Rank in the highest 35% of your class in general scholarship, (3.0 at UMF) and superior scholarship in psychology, (at least 3.2 in psychology courses). 4.High standards of personal behavior. 5.Three-fourths affirmative vote of Psi Chi members present at the regular meeting of the chapter. If you are interested in joining Psi Chi, fill out the form available at the Psychology Department and return to Psi Chi faculty advisor or Psychology Deparment secretary.
