Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance

| The executive board of the
Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance (FMLA) would like to welcome
everyone to a new school year filled with feminist ideals. While many
returning faculty, staff, and students are familiar with our
organization, there are many of you who are unfamiliar with our club and
what we do.
The purpose of the FMLA is to promote feminist ideals on campus, and within the greater community. To put it simply, we are a group of students that work towards promoting social, political, and economic equality between women and men. We believe that economic, political, and civil rights should be afforded to all people regardless of gender, biological sex, race, sexual orientation, age, religion, ethnicity, or any other category susceptible to stereotyping. Although we are a relatively new club on campus, we have undertaken numerous projects and actions in the pursuit of feminist equality. Some of these include co-sponsoring HIV/AIDS awareness week, sponsoring a concert to benefit SAVES (Sexual Assault Victims Emergency Services), co-sponsoring the feminist "Rock the Boat Speaker Series", support of FACES (Farmington Area Citizens to End Sweatshops), and financing this magazine, co-sponsoring the Women in History Banquet, support the Nordica Celebration of the Arts. We hope this year will be equally eventful and fun. We welcome participation from all students, as well as faculty and staff. Our first meeting will be held during the second week of September. Although the exact time and place has yet to be determined, it will be properly posted throughout the campus on the bulletin boards. Once again, welcome to a new school year. We look forward to seeing you at our meetings. |
