Our History:
SEA-change (Social and Environmental Activists for change) evolved in 2001 from a subgroup of what was once UMF’s Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance.  The group wanted to encompass a greater range of activist issues.  SEA-change became a group not only concerned about feminist ideals, but also concerned with environmental issues, civil liberties, and other social problems.  SEA-change supports the Women’s Studies Department by funding the publishing of Ripple (A Feminist Zine), every semester.  Since 2001, SEA-change has organized and engaged in a host of informational speakers, educational movies, activist entertainers, and acts of progressive demonstration. Curently we are very active with the Student Peace Alliance a national organization to support a campaign for a U.S. Departmetn of Peace.

Our Mission Statement:
To provide the support and means for university students to pursue activist endeavors regarding social and environmental issues. Our club does not formally pronounce a stance on any social or environmental issues regardless of how strong the majority of the club's views may be. We want to foster the individual student's concerns. Traditionally, our interest has focused on preserving our natural environment and standing up for civil liberties.
